History of Our Name

Jesus Christ is our solid rock (Isaiah 28:16, 1 st 3:11, Matthew 7:24-27). Solid Rock Church of Elgin is an independent church located at 36W540 South Street, Elgin, Il 60123. We were founded by the Free Will Baptist denomination in 1965 and were with them until 2022. Solid Rock Freewill Baptist Church officially became Solid Rock Church of Elgin in 2024. Solid Rock Church of Elgin is registered with non-profit status by the State of Illinois.

Our Mission

Solid Rock Church is an independent church bringing the good news of Jesus Christ to Elgin.  We will love God with all our heart, soul, strength, and mind (Deuteronomy 6:4-7, Mark 12:30-31); and love our neighbor as ourselves (Matthew 22:37-40). We will learn through God’s Word about his way, his truth, and his life (John 14:6); and we will live in the power of the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8), producing the fruit that is evident of our faith (Galatians 5: 22-23). We will lead for Jesus with whatever gifts, talents, abilities, and opportunities he gives us (1 st Corinthians 12:4-11, 1 st Peter 4:10-11, Ephesians 4:11, Romans 12: 4-8).
