Mark and Cathy Kato grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and met while studying missions at Moody Bible Institute. They have been married for 25 years and have two children, Hannah and Joshua. Mark served as a youth pastor in Wisconsin and Illinois. They lived in Africa (Niger and Cameroon) for five years, ministering to children, youth and the poor. Mark and Cathy have served with the EFCA since 2011.
Mark is the Apex College Director. Apex is the student missions program for the EFCA, helping serve the local church by mobilizing the next generation of gospel influencers to take the gospel from here to everywhere. Apex does this by offering 17-24 year olds short-term mission opportunities at ReachGlobal locations around the world.
Cathy is the GlobalFingerprints Tabitha Site Coordinator in Congo and the Liberia Site Coordinator. GlobalFingerprints is the child sponsorship ministry of the EFCA, opening the door to church planting in hard places and equipping the local church to be transformational in the lives of orphans and other vulnerable children. Sponsored children receive spiritual care, as well as an education, medical care and better nutrition.
